Awards were presented during a leader recognition dinner for the MaHasKah district within the Boy Scouts of America.

Approximately 50 scout leaders and guests represented Bethany Eagleville, Chillicothe, and Trenton. District lifetime achievement awards went to Trenton scout leaders: Dean Sager and Kevin Bailey. Years of service awards were given to Jeff Spencer for 35 years and Kevin Bailey for 30 years.

Jason Lichfield was presented with the district award of merit.

Other individual awards went to leaders Heather Chapman and Kent Peterson both of Chillicothe; to Holly Sims, Juanita Jinks, and Bob Beaty all of Bethany; and to Jerry Mossburg of Eagleville. Jeremy Hall and Craig Hathcock, both of Chillicothe and Clark Israel of Pleasant Valley were honored with other awards.

Other awards went to boy scout troops 97, 98, and 99 at Trenton; and for Cub Pack 120 and Scout Troop 120 at Chillicothe.

The Bethany dinner was one of the last for what’s been known as MaHasKah District for over 50 years. The Pony Express Council, Boy Scouts of America, has undergone a change of district boundaries resulting in three districts being reorganized from what had been five. Renaming of the districts is underway by scout officials.

It’s anticipated the new scouting district will have ten area counties: Grundy, Livingston, Mercer, and Harrison from the old MaHasKah district; Daviess, DeKalb, Caldwell, and Clinton from the old Crossed Arrows district; plus Worth and Gentry counties.
