A motion for bond reduction has been denied for a Milan man facing charges in Adair County stemming from an incident last month.

Online court information shows 35-year-old Daniel Stephens has been charged with the felonies of first-degree kidnapping and first-degree domestic assault as well as a misdemeanor violation of an order of protection for an adult. Bond was previously set at $75,000 cash only.

Stephens is next scheduled for the Associate Division of Adair County Circuit Court October 24th.

A probable cause statement from the Kirksville Police Department reported Stephens pulled up to a parked vehicle in the Kraft Foods parking lot and yelled at a woman identified as his wife to come with him. She had a full order of protection against him.

The woman reportedly agreed to get into the vehicle, and the probable cause statement indicated Stephens stopped several times, hit her with a closed fist, and kicked her out of the vehicle.
