The Highway Patrol reports two Lathrop women sustained injuries when a tractor-trailer hit the car they were passengers in three miles west of Hamilton Thursday morning.

The tractor-trailer, driven by 30-year-old Parmjeet Cheema of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, struck the back of the car, driven by 75-year-old Marilyn Weimer of Gower, as it slowed to make a right turn off of eastbound U. S. 36.  The car came to rest off the southeast side of the road on its wheels and was totaled. The tractor-trailer came to a controlled stop on the shoulder with moderate damage.

An ambulance transported 76-year-old Barbara Schwery to Cameron Regional Medical Center with what the Patrol called moderate injuries. The Patrol reports 86 year old Rose Maples received minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene.

The Patrol also reports the drivers and passengers all wore seat belts at the time of the accident, and neither driver sustained injuries.

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
