Bids were accepted and ordinances were adopted at last nights’ meeting of the Trenton City Council.

Bill Zang of Trenton submitted the high bid for hay ground at $12.76 cents per bale. This will be a three-year commitment to harvest hay at the airport grounds, the area near the trap and skeet range, as well as the northeast side of the city reservoir. The hay ground north of the fire station will still be on a year to year bid, as the land may be the future site of a fire training facility.

Dustin Etter of “A-Plus Enterprises” of Trenton was again awarded the bid to mow seven city-owned lots as well as the city cemetery.

Purchase of 13 pole and pad mount transformers was approved with a Minnesota company: B and B Transformers of Farmington. The total cost tops $14,000.

One ordinance approved grants a conditional use permit to allow for a 120-foot steel pole to be installed in the city right of way at East 28th and Mable Streets in Trenton.

A spokesman for the company seeking the permit told the council the pole is for cellular communications with Sprint as the primary carrier using the Trenton location.

Another ordinance allows Jack and Lucinda Guthrie to combine three of the lots in the original plat of the Riverside Drive subdivision at Trenton.

Discussion of boats on the city reservoir was tabled until more information is obtained from the department of natural resources.

City Administrator Ron Urton plans presentations about the April 4 transportation sales tax vote. He’ll be meeting with civic clubs, chamber of commerce, senior center, and have an Open Line on KTTN.
