Bethany man life-flighted to hospital after being struck by utility pole

The highway patrol reports a Bethany man, operating a farm tractor was injured late Wednesday afternoon in an unusual accident while he was working in a privately-owned field just east of his home.

A trooper reported 59-year-old Ronald Graham’s tractor struck a utility pole breaking it into two pieces, striking him in the face and rendering him unconscious.

The patrol listed his injuries as serious and Graham was flown by LifeNet medical helicopter to Mosaic Health Care in St. Joseph.

The accident happened near County Road 330, eight miles to the southwest of Bethany, about 5:30 pm Wednesday.

Assisting at the scene were Harrison County sheriff’s department, Grand River Emergency Medical Services, NTA Ambulance, and Life Net.
