Bethany man demolishes car in crash on Route W; later arrested and accused of DWI

A Bethany man was injured in a rollover crash early Monday evening in Harrison County and was later arrested.

Sixty-two-year-old Duane Belcher received moderate injuries in the accident eight miles to the north of Bethany. Belcher was taken by an ambulance to the Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany.

The car was northbound when it traveled off the right side of Route W, the driver over-corrected with the car returning to the road where it skidded across both lanes, struck a ditch, overturned several times.

The patrol accused Duane Belcher of felony driving while intoxicated persistent offender, careless and imprudent driving by being involved in an accident and no proof of insurance. Belcher was released for medical treatment.

It was unknown whether Belcher was using a seat belt and the car was demolished.
