The second annual “Battle of the Badges” between the Chillicothe Police Department and the Chillicothe Fire Department is the benefit softball game Saturday, October 1 at 7 o’clock at the Blue Field at Danner Memorial Park.

Admission is a contribution with proceeds going to the Y-Pals Back Pack program. Co-organizers of the charity game are Detective Jon Maples and Police Officer Michael Smith.

Throwing the ceremonial first pitch is 2015 Miss Missouri McKensie Garber of Hale. She also will accept donations for photographs or autographs and the money received will be turned over to the YMCA for their Backpack Buddy program.

Fourth Ward Councilman Paul Howard will be the umpire behind the plate. Another volunteer umpire, Scott Mumper will work the bases.

The Boy Scouts present the colors and carry the American flag to the field.

Third Ward Councilman Tom Douglas leads the pledge to the flag. The National Anthem will be played. Mayor Chuck Haney is the public address announcer.

In last year’s battle, the fire department pulled off a 26-22 victory.
