The Backpack Buddies weekend food program is again serving 140 children selected by six schools in Grundy County.
The effort is sustained by donations and other fundraising efforts to feed each child during a 36 week period of the school year On behalf of the Community Food Pantry, Ginny Wikoff is Grundy County’s coordinator of backpack buddies:
Distribution of the reusable backpacks and food began in September.
Donations of any amount may be made in care of the community food pantry at 1703 Harris Avenue in Trenton. Put Backpack Buddies in the memo line.
It’s noted a donation of $150 feeds one child on the weekends of the school year.
