While school is still in session, the Livingston County Children’s Wellness Committee is already making plans for next school year and will hold the Tenth Back to School Bonanza in July.

The free event designed to empower parents and children to learn to make healthy lifestyle choices will be at the Calvary Baptist Church Life Center of Chillicothe the afternoon of July 31st from 3:30 to 6 o’clock. Students who will be in kindergarten through eighth grade for the 2018-2019 school year will be eligible to register for school supplies and a free pair of shoes.

Livingston County residents who register for the event will receive a backpack with free school supplies donated by a local business. Parents and children must visit booths from local organizations to complete their passports and pick up their backpacks and school supplies.

Families can register at the Livingston County Health Center website. Parents can also pick up a paper application at the University of Missouri Extension Office, the Livingston County Health Center, and the food pantry in Chillicothe. Applications are due by July 16.

School supplies and monetary donations are still being accepted and anyone interested in donating should call Jessica Trussell with Extension at 660-646-0811 or mail the donation to the Extension Office at 2881 Grand Drive, Suite 2 in Chillicothe. Checks should be made payable to MU Extension.
