A Trenton man was arrested Sunday for an alleged second violation of tampering with a Trenton Municipal Utility meter.
Fifty-six-year-old Donald Keith Swigart is to appear in the Associate Division of Grundy County Circuit Court on March 24th.
The warrant accuses Swigart of second-degree tampering of a utility meter – second or subsequent offense on February 18th. Bond is $1,500 in cash.
According to the warrant, the incident happened at his home 802 West 24th Street. Authorities report the clasp was cut and the lock was removed on the electric meter and a pipe was allegedly used on the water meter that permitted the diversion of electric and water service.
At a January 28th appearance in court, Swigart pleaded guilty to tampering with a utility meter as of November 1st. The fines, court costs, restitution, prosecutors’ fee, and donation to the law enforcement fund, collectively totaled nearly $1,300.
A resident of Dawn, 50-year-old Rodney Wallace Cranor, was arrested Sunday on a warrant accusing him of failure to appear in circuit court.
Previous charges included second-degree burglary, forgery, and passing bad checks – no account. Bond is $6,000 with Cranor scheduled for Division One of Grundy County Circuit Court on April 20th.
