Contractor bids are due on February 21st with the awarding of a bid possibly on March 4th regarding the Highway 6 resurfacing project through Trenton.

MoDOT Area Engineer Randy Mendenhall said the Trenton portion has been combined with a similar project in Daviess County (I-35 to Route K east of Gallatin) plus other work to be done on Highway 6 in western Grundy and eastern Daviess counties.

The one point seven mile section of Highway 6 through Trenton involves what MoDOT calls “a thin lift overlay” which is 2 inches thick.

The Trenton portion of the project also includes federally-required sidewalk improvements and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance work which will take place along Highway 6 which is also referred to by residents as East 9th Street.

Mendenhall says the city of Trenton will pay for water line improvements along East 9th Street which is another facet of the Highway 6 resurfacing project.
