A Missouri lawmaker says the average person who works a minimum wage job is living in poverty.

The Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations says the state minimum wage for 2017 is $7.70 per hour. Ellington filed similar legislation in January. His bill was referred to a committee on the 2017 session’s final day in May and never received a hearing.
