Missouri’s fire departments, especially in rural areas, have a critical need for more firefighters and a new state program aims to help recruit more.

State Fire Marshal Tim Beam tells Missourinet the “Firefighters Veterans Initiative” is intended to link veterans and active service members to fire service careers.

 

 

Missouri has more than 63,000 Gulf War era and post 9-11 veterans.
