A Kirkwood businessman who embezzled $4,000,000 from his employer is heading to federal prison for four years.

That sentence was handed down to Bryan Vonderahe who pleaded guilty back in October to wire fraud for embezzling nearly four-million-dollars from the Boyd Group. He served as the company’s CEO. Prosecutors say he set himself up as a sham vendor and wrote about five-hundred checks to himself. The Boyd Group owns real estate and operates several businesses, including the Bedroom Store. Vonderahe also must pay restitution.

Prosecutors also say he used the money to gamble and to travel to Florida and Colorado.
