Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) Director Steve Corsi has appointed House Speaker Todd Richardson as the MO HealthNet Director, effective November 1. Governor Mike Parson tells Capitol reporters the appointment highlights his priority of bringing stability to state government.

Parson made the announcement Monday at the Statehouse in Jefferson City. Richardson says Medicaid’s budget is now ten-billion dollars, out of the state’s 28-billion dollar operating budget.

Richardson and Governor Parson tell Missourinet they are focused on reforming Medicaid, not expanding the program. Kirkwood Democratic State Representative Deb Lavender wants to put the Medicaid expansion issue on a statewide ballot.
