Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft acknowledged the proclamation at a ceremony at the St. Louis Soldiers Memorial Museum.

The legislation was co-sponsored by Annapolis Representative Chris Dinkins, whose grandfather was a prisoner of war in World War Two.

The designation is an effort to continue to remember and pursue the recovery of missing soldiers, including 2,289 Missourians.
