A critical shortage of certified nursing assistants has led to the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron to intermittently stop admitting new residents since October 2018. The move has left 30 beds unfilled at the 200-bed northwest Missouri home. State Veterans Commission Executive Director Grace Link explains some of the reasons for the CNA shortage.

The commission has shifted to allowing staff to work a maximum four hours of overtime for per day unless more is the only option.
