A contractor is scheduled to start demolishing the old south hangar at the Trenton Municipal Airport on April 5th. City Administrator Ron Urton reports the contractor will also start removing concrete and get ready for bringing in fill material that will come from on-site.

Urton says the plan is to raise up that part to eventually have a hangar above flood level.

At one point last year a pilot considered constructing a building and renting the spaces, but that has not happened. Urton notes that was about the time the pandemic hit.

Urton hopes someone else will come forward and offer to build a hangar. The City of Trenton might also be able to use some Federal Aviation Administration money in the future to build a hangar.
