An “ugly sweater” contest is one of the activities for the Downtown Trenton Christmas Promotion Friday, December 9.
Joy Wright, a member of the Christmas committee for the downtown area, tells us about the sweater contest including categories to be judged:

A holiday-themed scavenger hunt is scheduled in Trenton on Friday, December 9. It’s one of the new activities this year for the Downtown Trenton Christmas promotion.

Music will be in the air the evening of December 9 as carolers can be heard singing Christmas songs in the downtown Trenton area. Cathie Smith is a member of the downtown Trenton Christmas committee:
Prior to the caroling, events December 9 include VFW Hall hosting a soup supper beginning at 4:30. An opening ceremony at 5:30 will “light up” the Sesquicentennial Park at five points. That will be followed by a prayer from Pastor Steve Merrin on behalf of the Trenton Area Ministerial Alliance.
The advance schedule also includes a performance by the Rissler grade school honor choir at 5:45, Santa’s arrival at 6 o’clock, Trenton high school Gold Rush” at 6:15 and a Tribe of Mic-O-Say dancers near five points performing at 6:45.
Dockery Chapel Church is to have a nativity scene inside the gated lot north of 1109 Main which is Sweet Praises snack shack. Hodge Presbyterian Church is to host a cookie walk at The Space at 1013 Main.
Several downtown businesses, plus the Grundy County Museum, are to stay open later than usual that evening, December 9 to accommodate visitors to the Downtown Trenton Christmas activities. Special events include an ugly sweater contest, gingerbread house contest, and a Christmas season scavenger hunt.
