Associate Division of circuit court has many cases on Tuesday docket

Preliminary hearings were waived yesterday in Associate Division of the Grundy County Circuit with each defendant bound over to Division One Court.

Joseph Abram Kincaid of Wyaconda is charged with tampering with a motor vehicle, felony theft of property, and stealing a motor vehicle.

Jessica Mae Lotz of Trenton is charged with endangering the welfare of a child involving drugs and delivery of 35 grams or marijuana.

Shiane Marie Eason of Springfield faces felony charges of assault in third-degree on a special victim, endangering the welfare of a child involving drugs, and resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony. Misdemeanor cases certified to be Division One were driving while intoxicated and driving while license revoked or suspended.

Lynn Dean Shipley of Gallatin is charged with failure to register as a sex offender.

Trenton resident Justin Wuerfele admitted to a probation violation. Probation was revoked and he was sentenced to 21 days at the Grundy County Jail in each of two counts. The sentences run concurrently. Credit was given for time served. The original court cases involved operating a vehicle while a driver’s license was revoked and a charge of marijuana possession.

Also in associate circuit court Tuesday, Cody James Burchett – who listed a St. Joseph address – pleaded guilty and was sentenced to serve time in the Grundy County Jail. On a charge of violation of an order of protection for an adult, Cody Burchett was given a 30-day jail sentence, credited with serving 17 days and remanded for the rest.

In a separate case involving violation of an order of protection for an adult, he was sentenced 30 days in jail, given credit for 19 days, and remanded for the rest. The sentences run concurrently.  A $300 fine was announced for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

His brother, Cory Jack Burchett of Trenton, appeared in court on various charges Monday before Special Judge Thomas Alley. Cory Burchett admitted to probation violations. Probation was revoked and Burchett was sentenced to serve his original 30 days at the Grundy County Jail and given credit for serving those days. The charge involved violation of an adult protection order.

The same jail sentence and credit was given for a probation violation regarding an original charge of second-degree property damage. He was ordered to make restitution of 357 dollars. In other cases, Cory Burchett pleaded guilty to an amended charge of misdemeanor resisting arrest and was sentenced to 15 days in jail. Credit was given for serving 9 days and he was remanded for the rest. Burchett also was fined $300 on a marijuana possession charge. Another charge was dismissed by the prosecution. Plea agreements were involved in the cases.

John Curtis Reed of Milan pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and was fined $300, ordered to donate $100 to Grundy County Detention Center, a recoupment fee of $98, plus the court costs. A plea agreement was involved.

Liberty resident Susan Miller pleaded guilty to charges of assault in the fourth degree and second-degree property damage. She was sentenced to 24 days in jail in each case. The sentences ran concurrently. Credit for serving the time was given.

Tyler Moon of Sarasota, Florida pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in Grundy County. Imposition of sentence was suspended by the court and Moon was placed on two years probation. He’s to donate 100 dollars to the Grundy County law enforcement fund. Moon also pleaded guilty to an amended charge of operating a vehicle with defective brakes was fined $200 plus court costs. A plea agreement was involved in both cases.
