Several area youths will be awarded scholarships by the Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture Committee. The students are seeking higher education at a Missouri college or university and were selected from 4-H and FFA State Fair exhibitors.

Anderson Rogers of Bethany was selected to receive the $5,000 platinum scholarship, offered by Youth in Agriculture supporters. Youth chosen to receive $1,500 scholarships, sponsored by Youth in Agriculture supporters, include Allena Allen of Trenton, Alexandra Houghton of Hamilton, and Montana Plattner of Chillicothe.

Scholarship applicants were evaluated in multiple areas, including Missouri State Fair participation, grade point average, community involvement, and leadership roles. The Youth in Agriculture Committee has awarded 675 scholarships totaling 729 thousand dollars since 1992.

The Youth in Agriculture Committee is made up of volunteers from across Missouri who raise funds throughout the year for the Annual Sale of Champions auction and scholarships. The scholarships are funded through Youth in Agriculture sponsors and buyers of livestock sold at the Sale of Champions. A portion of each animal’s sale price is allocated to the scholarship program. Scholarship program support is also provided by several other businesses.
