The Trenton Kiwanis Club, in conjunction with KTTN, has opened the application process for the Christmas Wish Project.

The program is designed to assist low-income families with children 12 years old and younger with Christmas gifts for the children. To be eligible, a family must live in Grundy County, have custody of children for whom it is seeking assistance, and meet income guidelines based on the 2018 Federal Poverty Guidelines. Each child can request a specific gift valued at $30 or less.

Application forms will be sent home with elementary school students. Families who would like to enroll for the project can also pick up applications at the Trenton Police Department and KTTN during business hours. Forms must be completed and returned by December 1st to the radio station or the Kiwanis mailing address on the form.

KTTN will begin airing the wishes of area children on the radio November 26th.

Individuals can purchase a specified gift and drop it off at the station, Royal Inn Pizza of Trenton, or Dave’s Body Shop of Trenton. Monetary donations will also be accepted at those locations and used to purchase gifts.

The Trenton High School Key Club will assist the Kiwanis Club with shopping in mid-December for gifts not previously donated. The toys will then be wrapped and bagged for delivery to families in time for Christmas.

Questions may be directed to Christmas Wish Project Coordinator Kara Helmandollar at 660-359-5966.
