The Magic of Marceline Development Company is holding its second annual search for “Missouri’s Ten Best Grandmothers.”
The promoters say the contest honors Grandmothers who have positively influenced their grandchildren and embody the common sense, family values which gave Missouri its reputation as the show me state.
Each winning Grandmother receives $500 in cash, plus a $250 donation to the charity of her choice.
Winners are based on a one-page typewritten essay, with the entry deadline August 1st. Winners are to be announced August 12th with prizes are to be presented at an awards ceremony and dinner gala at Marceline September 10th.
Judges are to include school teachers, Missouri newspaper editors, a representative from the clergy, civic leaders, a curator of the Walt Disney Museum at Marceline, and Grandmothers from senior centers at Marceline and around the region.
