The North Missouri Center for Youth and Families in Chillicothe will hold its Fifth Annual Light the Night Glow Run 5K and Block Party Saturday night.
Registration for the run will start at 7 o’clock, and the race begins at 9:30.
Committee Chairperson DeAnna Savage tells that there will be food vendors as well as raffles for Royals and Mudcats tickets and a $100 gift certificate to Shoe Sensation.
She says there have been 250 to 380 participants each year.
She adds that one thing that makes the Glow Run special is that a timing company from Kansas City provides a bib for each runner with a running chip in it to calculate accurate times.
Savage says runners come up with their own ways to glow during the race.
The route is also lit up with signs of encouragement, and there is splatter paint during the block party.
She adds that music will be played in different parts of the route, and a DJ will play music at the end.
Savage adds that the proceeds raised will go to the general revenue fund and the scholarship fund for children who cannot afford the monthly fee for the center.
