Lots of activities are on tap at the Gooseberry Festival today at Trenton.
Five and ten-kilometer run/walks at 7:30 this morning beginning at Eastside Park. Registration is at 7 o’clock. The Run/walks are sponsored by the Grundy County Health Department. Over 150 persons pre-registered for the event, Entries also will be accepted this morning at no charge.
A frisbee golf tournament takes place on the new disc golf course at Moberly Park.
Registration begins at 8 o’clock this morning. The tournament starts at 9.
A tennis tournament takes place at the Trenton High School courts with check in at 8 o’clock this morning, with play to begin shortly thereafter. Prior registration was required.
Works by the Trenton Art Guild are to be displayed at the Rock Barn beginning at 9 o’clock.
The gooseberry cooking contest is at the Rock Barn, with registration at 9 o’clock and judging at 9:30. The competition includes pies, jams, and jellies.
The Rock Barn also is the site of a public auction today. In addition, vendors are to be in that area. Atlatl throwing begins at 9:30 this morning at the Rock barn area as well.
A horse show pitching contest is at 10 o’clock at Eastside Park.
The Grundy County Museum is open this afternoon from 2 until 5 o’clock.
A crappie and bass tournament is planned today with registration from 9 until 5 o’clock at the American Sportsman Rod and Gun store, 3007 East Tenth Street. A crawfish and fish cookout is at that location at 6 o’clock. Participants eat free. Others eat for $20.00.
