Investigation of a reported abandoned vehicle north of Chillicothe resulted in the arrest of a Chillicothe man on drug charges.

Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox reports 41-year-old Corey David Stottlemyre was arrested for alleged possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Cox says the sheriff’s office observed and seized a pipe commonly used in smoking methamphetamine from an abandoned pickup Tuesday before the truck was towed from the scene. The Chillicothe Police Department received a report of the same vehicle being stolen from Chillicothe Wednesday morning.

Cox reports the sheriff’s office continued investigating Wednesday and interviewed the pickup owner regarding Tuesday’s incident and possible stalking. He notes that is when Stottlemyre was found to be in possession of alleged methamphetamine.

Stottlemyre was transferred to the Daviess-Dekalb County Regional Jail pending the filing of formal charges.

The Chillicothe Police continue to investigate the alleged false report of a stolen vehicle.
