The Highway Patrol reports a child from Lee’s Summit sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident four miles west of Polo the morning of January 13th. He was the passenger in a pickup truck.

A private vehicle took the five-year-old boy to the Excelsior Springs Hospital. No injuries were reported for the driver of the pickup, 45-year-old Justin Wilson of Lee’s Summit, and the driver of a car, 18-year-old Abigail Cline of Polo.

The car traveled south on Pikes Road, and the pickup went north before the car reportedly crossed the center of the road. The left front of the car struck the driver’s side of the truck. Both vehicles came to rest on their wheels, with the pickup blocking Pikes Road. The vehicles had extensive damage.

All occupants were wearing either seat belts or secured in safety devices.

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and Polo Fire Department assisted at the scene of the crash.
