3 die in crash on Highway 63 bypass in Kirksville

Adair County Coroner Brian Noe confirmed the names of the three individuals who died in a two-vehicle accident on the Highway 63 bypass, about a quarter of a mile north of the Illinois Street intersection in Kirksville Monday afternoon.

The victims were 19-year-old Rachel Morris of Queen City and 84-year-old Wayne and 78-year-old Gwen Laudwig of Greentop.

The police department reports a sports utility vehicle driven by 78-year-old Gwendolyn Laudwig of Greentop traveled north and crossed the center line striking a southbound car driven by 19-year-old Rachel Morris of Queen City.

Laudwig and her passenger 84-year-old Wayne Laudwig of Greentop were pronounced dead at the scene.  Morris was transported to the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville where she was pronounced dead.

Morris is the daughter of Putnam County R-1 FFA sponsor Randy Morris.

The Kirksville Police Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Truman University Department of Public Safety, the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, the Kirksville Fire Department, and the Adair County Ambulance District responded to the accident.
