2 hurt in Saturday crash near Bethany

Bethany and Princeton residents were hurt east of Bethany when, according to the highway patrol, a car attempted a left turn and collided with an oncoming crossover-type vehicle.

The driver of the crossover vehicle, 58-year-old Brenda Stout of Princeton, was taken to Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany with serious injuries. The driver of the car, 53-year-old Rodney Vantellman of Bethany, was taken to the hospital in Bethany with moderate injuries.

The accident happened early Saturday afternoon about five miles east of Bethany on Highway 136 as Vantellman was eastbound and Ms. Stout was traveling west. The accident occurred as Vantellman attempted a left turn onto Route T and the car hit the front end of the crossover vehicle.

Both vehicles were demolished and the patrol report noted Ms. Stout was wearing a seatbelt, but Vantellman was not.
