2 Higginsville teens life-flighted after Saturday crash

Two persons received serious injuries Saturday evening August 13, at Ludlow when a pickup truck went out of control.

The driver, 19-year-old Brody Campbell-Wegener of Higginsville, was flown by medical helicopter to St. Luke’s Hospital at Kansas City.

A passenger in the pickup, 17-year-old Jacob Wampler of Higginsville, was taken to Hedrick Medical Center at Chillicothe, and later flown by medical helicopter to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City.

The accident was on Route D at First Street in Ludlow when the pickup was northbound on Route D, crossed railroad tracks, became airborne, hit the ground, went out of control, traveled off the left side of the road, hit the ground, went through a fence and a shed, and hit a tree.

The pickup was demolished and neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.
