2 dead in northeast Missouri crash near Palmyra

A head-on collision in northeast Missouri claimed the lives of two people and seriously injured another.

Fatally injured were 73-year-old Maureen Young and her 74-year-old husband, Howard Young, of the east central Missouri community of Laddonia.

Seriously injured was 53-year-old Daniel Prisner of the community of La Grange.

The accident was late Saturday afternoon ten miles north of Palmyra on Highway 61, when Maureen Young lost control of their northbound SUV which skidded off the left side of the road, crossed a median, and collided head-on with a southbound pickup truck driven by Prisner.

Prisner was taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois serious injuries.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

Prisner was the only person wearing a seatbelt.
