Trenton Police Chief Rex Ross advises business owners to be vigilant for fake or counterfeit money, especially this time of year.

Ross reports a $100 play dollar bill was passed in the last few days at a convenience store.  The bill had “Play Money” printed on it. The person who had passed the fake bill was tracked down; however, the individual did not know he or she had passed the fake bill. The individual compensated the business and no arrests or charges were filed.

Ross encourages businesses to use counterfeit marking pens to make sure dollar bills are real.  Any business that thinks it found counterfeit money is asked to contact law enforcement.
