Human remains that were found by mushroom hunters on Friday, April 27 have been identified.
The remains were found in a wooded area in the vicinity of South Mopac Road between East 235th Street and East 239th Street in Cass County.
The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the remains as Vernece A. Brown of Kansas City, Missouri. Brown was reported missing and last seen on February 14 in the 3600 block of Bales Avenue. The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department had an active missing person case on Brown.
