Shortly after 3 o’clock Monday morning, a Cameron man was injured as the car he was driving struck the rear of a stopped vehicle on Interstate 35 in Clay County.

Sixty-two-year-old Timothy Carr was taken by emergency medical services to North Kansas City Hospital with serious injuries.

The highway patrol reports another vehicle with emergency lights activated had stopped to provide traffic assistance for a stranded motorist at the 32-mile marker in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35. The stopped vehicle was struck in the rear leaving it demolished and Carr’s vehicle also was totaled in the accident.

The highway patrol arrest report has accused Timothy Carr of Cameron with driving while intoxicated, failure to proceed with caution or yield right of way to an emergency vehicle, and no proof of vehicle insurance.

Carr was released for treatment at the hospital.
