1 injury reported in 3 car crash on I-35 at Bethany

A three car accident Saturday night in Harrison County, at mile marker 93 on Interstate 35 resulted in minor injuries to a Merriam, Kansas woman.

The accident happened as a 1997 Ford F-150, driven by 38-year-old Richard Reyes of Gilman City, and a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 25-year-old Kyle Custer of Olathe, Kansas were southbound on Interstate 35 at Bethany. The Reyes vehicle merged into the left lane, striking the vehicle driven by Custer on the passenger side bumper. The Custer vehicle then crossed the median into the northbound lane.

The Custer vehicle then struck a 2003 Honda Odyssey being driven northbound by 53-year-old Christine Twemlow-Bliss of Merriam, Kansas.

The Ford pickup driven by Reyes came to a controlled stop on the southbound shoulder, the Chevrolet Malibu came to rest blocking the northbound lane, with the Honda Odyssey coming to rest on the east side of the road.

The Grand River Ambulance service transported Christine Twemlow-Bliss to Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany with minor injuries.

The highway patrol reported minor damage to the 1997 Ford F-150 owned by Richard Reyes of Gilman City, the Chevrolet Malibu, and the Honda Odyssey were classified as a total loss.

All three drivers were wearing seat belts.
