Mercer County University Extension presents three informational workshops, open to the public, on Thursday April 21st at Hal England Center in Princeton.

Connie Neal, an extension housing and environmental design specialist from Maryville, will offer information on how to make household cleaning products from natural based, less toxic products, that you have in your own home. This program begins at 10 o’clock Thursday morning.

Participants receive a booklet for making their own “green” cleaning products. Each attendee is asked to bring a 16 to 20 ounce clean spray bottle to the session to make a cleaning product that they can take home.

A workshop at 11 o’clock promotes healthy living conditions in the home.

The prevalence of asthma, especially in children is, and continues to be, an issue threatening childrens’ health. There are some pests that are fairly common that are associated with asthma or asthma symptoms – Dust mites, cock roaches, mice dander, and yes “bed bugs.” Attendees can learn some strategies for effective control of all pests including habitat modification to reduce or prevent infestations.

A third workshop on Thursday begins at 1 o’clock as information is presented on renting smart. There’s information on the landlord tenant relationship as well as renters insurance to perhaps protect you and your family from major financial loss.

More information on the Thursday workshops can be obtained from the Extension office in Princeton at 660-748 33-15. Reservations are preferred but not required.
