Woman falls to her death from zipline in Delaware

BEAR, Del. (UPI) — A woman died after falling 40 feet from a zip line in rural Delaware, authorities said Wednesday.

The 59-year-old woman, whose name was not disclosed, was participating in Go Ape Tree Top Adventure at Lums Pond State Park in Bear, Del. when the fall took place. She died a short time later at a nearby hospital.

There were no other injuries, police said.

The attraction immediately shut down and the company is fully cooperating with police.

Previous visitors to the attraction say it’s very safe, providing you pay attention.

“The staff basically takes you through how to hook up to the wires as you’re going through all the obstacles, but after you get up there, it’s kind of up to you to make sure you’re hooked up safe,” said John Lunsford of Bear.

The incident remains under investigation, Delaware State Police said.
