Warm weather continues during March

The March weather summary for Trenton shows temperatures considerably above average.  Highs averaged six degrees above normal, with lows nine degrees above typical.  Those numbers are based on highs averaging 58.4 degrees and lows dropping to a median of 39.3 degrees last month.  

Highs reached the 70’s seven times in March (although most of those in the low 70s).  The warmest day was 75 on March 14th.  Lows reached the chilly teen’s just once (18 on March 2nd).  The low temperature was in the 20’s on just six dates.  On the other end of the scale, lows dropped only into the 50’s on six occasions.

 

Trenton precipitation for March was below normal for the third month in a row.  It totaled 2.12 inches (about 0.42 inches below average for the month).  For the year, the city has had slightly over 4 inches of rain and melted snow through the end of the March (1.12 inches below normal).

 

There were no daily temperature or precipitation records established in March for Trenton.  Overall, the winter season has had just 6.8 inches of measurable snow and sleet in Trenton.  Three point eight (3.8) inches of that amount occurred in late December, while the other three inches came in January.  There were just trace amounts in February, and no measurable snowfall in March.
