The newly constructed Chillicothe walking/biking trail opens on Monday morning.

The trail is located between Third and Woodrow streets and the Wabash restaurant area, encompasses a distance of nearly one and one-half miles.

The trail displays one-tenth of a mile markers to show the distance traveled. No motor vehicles are allowed on the trail with parking available near the entrances.

The Chillicothe Street Department also announced a railroad crossing opens Tuesday connecting Livingston County Road 247 with Willow Avenue at the Lowes Acres housing development.

The crossing had been closed to remove a wooden bridge, move utilities, and make a low-grade crossing.

Chillicothe Street Superintendent Barry Arthur asked motorists to observe all signs in the area and drive slowly at the newly constructed site. He said more improvements will be done in the future at the intersection.
