Unemployment number from July for north Missouri

Grundy County’s July unemployment rate climbed to five and a half percent. That’s up from a rate of four point six percent noted in June.

The latest rate which is nearly one percentage point higher represents 267 persons on unemployment out of a civilian labor the state lists as 4865.

Rates among area counties for July range from Linn County at eight point two percent down to Worth County at three point eight.

Unemployment rates in other area counties include Sullivan at six point four percent; Carroll at five point seven percent; Caldwell, Clinton, and DeKalb at five point six; and Mercer county is at five percent.

Area counties coming in with less than five percent unemployment last month include Chariton at four point nine; Putnam at four point six; Daviess at four and a half; Harrison at four point two and Livingston at four point one percent. The state of Missouri average is four point seven percent.

One year ago (July 2015), the Grundy County unemployment rate stood at five point three percent with 259 out of work.
