Two injured in crash south of Newtown

The highway patrol reports two people were taken by ambulance to Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan following an accident three miles south of Newtown.

The report noted 48-year-old Pamela Spencer of Newtown was driving northbound when the car went off Highway 139, first to the right, then to the left, where it struck a traffic sign. Ms. Spencer, who was wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries. A passenger, 24-year-old Joseph Riebl of Harris, sustained moderate injuries.

Extensive damage was noted to the car in the 12:30 pm accident Monday.
