The Highway Patrol reports two area individuals sustained moderate injuries when their vehicle collided with a semi truck in Clay County Wednesday morning.

Sixty-two-year-old Connie Queery of Bethany traveled south on Interstate 35 when she reportedly attempted to pass the semi, driven by 52-year-old Carlton Coleman of Parsons, Kansas. Her vehicle hit the truck’s rear before losing control. Queery’s vehicle was totaled, and Coleman’s truck received minor damage.

The Patrol reports Queery and her passenger, 66-year-old Michael Queery of New Hampton, did not wear seat belts at the time of the accident and were transported to Liberty Hospital.

The Patrol notes Coleman wore a seat belt and did not sustain injuries.
