Trenton Veteran and student receives VFW Scholarship

North Central Missouri College student Mary Cabral of Trenton is this fall’s recipient of a VFW Post 919 (Trenton) scholarship. Cabral, a veteran separated from the Army, is attending NCMC full-time working towards obtaining her AA degree. Mary was stationed in Baumholder, Germany from 1989 to 1992 at the 30th Field Hospital. She was a medical specialist/EMT and worked in the emergency room and on an ambulance crew.

Mary is pursuing a degree in teaching and stated; “Raising my family gave me a deeper understanding and appreciation for the young mind. It would be an honor to help shape more young lives as a teacher.”

Active duty military members, reservists and honorably discharged veterans are given preference for VFW scholarships, which are valued at $250 per semester and can be renewed.
