Trenton students attend FCCLA regional meeting

More than 650 members, advisors, guests and drivers gathered at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty Missouri for the 2016 Family Career and Community Leaders of America Regional Meeting on October 26th. 

Thirty-seven members from Trenton Middle School and 23 members from Trenton High School chapters were in attendance.

The theme for the 2016 Region 2 meeting was “All in this together”. Before the meeting began, students from various schools participated in a talent show. After the talent show, members from Winston High School introduced the Region 2 Officers and Norborne High school conducted the flag ceremony. Cody Kennebeck from Chillicothe High School sang the national anthem. Trenton High School FCCLA prepared programs for the day. The meeting was called to order by the Region 2 President, Christen Brown. Regional Officers from Trenton High School were 2nd Vice President Brayden Herring and Treasurer, Camryn Willey.

Awards were presented to Breckenridge and Hale for best banner depicting the theme, and Hardin-Central for the best-dressed group of members. Mr. Gene Snyder was awarded the Honorary Member for his dedication to FCCLA. Trenton Middle school Advisor, Suzi Beck received the Excellence in advising award for going above and beyond the duties of an FCCLA adviser.

During the Miracle Minute, $260 was collected for the Region 2 Project, Autism Speaks.

The meeting ended with motivational speaker Bill Cordes who spoke to students about conditioning that affects our choices and their life path. Students were out of their seats and meeting new people as they looked at their own egos and learned to express themselves in positive ways.
