Trenton student takes first place honors at FBLA competition

A member of the Future Business Leaders of America at Trenton high School, Werthen Gass, took first place this week during state competition held in Springfield.

Miss Gass placed first in the category of introduction to business procedures. THS Business Advisor Mitch Holder explained the category allows participants to demonstrate proficiency in business operations, decision making, human relations, risk management, safety, and finances.

By placing first, Werthen Gass qualifies for the national leadership conference in Atlanta, Georgia from June 29th through July 2nd.

Trenton had 33 members participate at the state leadership conference in events such as knowledge, skills, performances, and presentation.

The conference Sunday through Tuesday attracted more than six thousand FBLA members from across Missouri. Besides the competitions, students also attended leadership workshops and heard motivational speakers.

Coming up Monday, May 2nd at Trenton high school will be honors and awards for several student organizations. The fine arts / practical arts include Family Career and Community Leaders of America, Future Teachers of America, Future Business Leaders, as well as the art, spanish, science, and key clubs.
