Trenton sets new rainfall record

A rainfall record was established in Trenton for the 24 hour period ending at 7 o’clock Sunday morning.

One inch and eight tenths (1.80) was measured at the fire station at 17th and Harris where the official guage for Trenton is read by the fire department.

Trenton has received 6.81 inches of rain in October, which is more than double the average precipitation in Trenton for the entire month. The October average is 3.07 inches.

Since 1970, the 6.81 inches ranks as the third highest precipitation in Trenton for the month of October. Trenton received 7.01inches in 2009 and 6.88 inches in 1998 during the month of October.

Trenton, for the year, has received 38.54 inches of rain and melted precipitation which is four and one-third inches (4.36) above normal at this point in the year.
