Trenton Police Department responds to man with a gun

Officers of the Trenton Police Department responded to a residence near 5th and DeBolt streets on Saturday.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a subject in in a motor vehicle with a handgun who was threatening suicide.

A standoff ensued, lasting approximately six hours, ending with officers negotiating the individual into a peaceful surrender. The 27-year-old Trenton man was taken into custody without incident, and the police department notes that reports are to be forwarded to the Grundy County Prosecutors office for a review of possible charges.

The Trenton Police Department was assisted by the Grundy County Sheriff’s office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The name of the individual involved has not been released to the media.
