The Trenton Bark Board approved its budget for 2017-2018 at its meeting Wednesday evening.

The budget shows total estimated revenues exceed total estimated expenditures by only $82.

Revenues and expenditures are estimated to be more than $557,000 each (revenues: $557,250, expenditures $557,168).

The Park Department’s fund balance as of January 31st was near $259,000 ($258,728).

More than $56,000 ($56,095) were budgeted specifically for items for the pool; Rock Barn; Moberly, Eastside, and Gladeys Grimes parks; playgrounds; the walking trail; shelter houses; concession stands; the maintenance building; and a utility terrain vehicle.

President Duane Helmandollar mentioned there would be no raises for city employees this year due to the higher cost of health insurance.

Sarah Allen with Trenton Summer Soccer Stars talked about the condition and usage of the soccer fields.

It was decided the Park Board will mark the fields, and Soccer Stars will pay for the paint.

Superintendent Jason Shuler reported some of the trees for the tree nursery were received.

The other trees have been shipped and should arrive soon.

Shuler said he and Assistant Superintendent David Shockley attended certified pool operator training and certification last month. He said he received recertification, and Shockley received certification. The certification will last five years.

The board discussed the condition of Burleigh Grimes Field. Members noted loose boards in the bleachers and general upkeep of the field.
