Trenton Middle School track competes at Putnam County Relays

The Trenton Middle School girls, with 107 points, finished in a runner-up tie with Clark County, while the TMS boys were 5th place, in Thursday afternoon’s Putnam County Middle School Relays in Unionville.  The Putnam County girls, with 109 points, took the championship on their home turf.  Other schools at the meet were Milan, Kirksville, Green City, Brashear, Brookfield, Davis County, Scotland County, and Schuyler County.

For the TMS girls, three first-place finishes were grabbed by relay teams.  Shawna Coplen, McKayla Blackburn, Kennedy Norton, and Lexi Whitaker combined for wins in the 4 by 200 (1:58.69) and 4 by 400 (4:33.73) relays.  The four-some of Kennedy Norton, Shawna Coplen, Maci Moore, and Lexi Whitaker won the 4 by 100 relay, in a time of 56.69 seconds.  Relay teams picked up 43 of Trenton’s 107 points on the day.

Second place finishes came from Allena Allen, Evie Dowel, Emily Kosse, and Gwynenth Foster in the 4 by 800 relay, Allen in the 800 meter run, Whitaker in the high jump, and Moore in the shot put.  Blackburn was third in the 800 meter run, with Kendall Crowley third in the discus.

The Trenton Middle School boys picked up first place wins from Carson Burchett in the shot put (43 feet, 1 inch) and the 4 by 100 relay team of Mark Trump, David Felix, Quincy Griffin, and Jose Valazquez, with a time of 52.49 seconds.  The 4 by 200 relay team (Trump, Griffin, Kayden Spencer, Quentin Hughs) finished second, while Dalton Burchett was third in the shot put, and Valazquez third in the 200 meter dash.
