Trenton High School vocal and instrumental departments advance to state

The Trenton High School vocal and instrumental music departments have qualified for state judging in eleven entries following district evaluations for solos and small ensembles.

The instrumental music department had six entries receive the top rating of one to advance to state evaluations.

All are solos which included Jacob Davis on baritone saxophone, Ellis Gilham on baritone horn, Tyler Kidd on timpani, tuba player Jayden McClure, violinist Claire Utley, and Katherine Warner on flute.

The vocal music department had five entries earn a top rating of one to advance to state evaluations including soloists Emma Gilham and Colten Hamilton; a men’s double quartet, a mixed double quartet, and a mixed quartet.

Members of the men’s double quartet are Gabe Swann, Hunter Beasley, Jarren King, Colten Hamilton, Lawrence Link, Wyatt Neal, Dakota Cutsinger, and Riley Raymo.

The mixed double quartet was comprised of Salem Croy, Emma Gilham, Mickenzey Willey, Karissa Brock, Jarren King, Hunter Beasley, Jesse Farmer, and Connor Cotton.

Members of the mixed quartet are Ashten Whitaker, Salem Croy, Jesse Farmer, and Connor Cotton.

The state evaluations for solos and small ensembles are to be held April 28th at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Trenton students receiving a rating of two for their vocal solos at the district evaluations were hunter Beasley, Emily Bonta, Karissa Brock, Dakota Cutsinger, Sarah Dryer, Jesse Famer, Ashley Johnson, Wyatt Neal, Kasie Otto, Lana Raymo, Riley Ramo, River Reiter, and Gabe Swan. Trenton vocal ensembles receiving a rating of two were a women’s quartet, a mixed double quartet, and a women’s sextet.

Students receiving a rating of two for their instrumental solos were Hunter Beasley, Emily Bonta, Aidan Clark, Madi Cutsinger, Codi Delong, Tanner Franklin, Tiffany Gilbertson, Emma Gilham, Ashley Johnson, Mackenzie Klinginsmith, Jaima Knight, Alyssa Kosse, Elle Neal, Wyatt Neal, Leah Polk, Nicole Rodriquez, Jacob Roy, and Jonathan Schlared.

Instrumental ensembles receiving a rating of two at the district evaluations were a clarinet trio, a flute trio, and a saxophone quartet.

Instrumental Music Director Tim Gilham noted the instrumental students were accompanied by pianists Laurie Bonta, Shani Kinney, and Vanessa Pauley.

The district evaluations were held Saturday at St. Joseph Central High School.

Large ensemble judging is to be held this week at Northwest Missouri State Univerity in Maryville.

Trenton vocal music department entries perform Wednesday and the Trenton instrumental music department students on Friday.
